Greater Tuna: The Comedy That Jabs Deep Into The Heart of Texas

The comedy that jabs deep into the heart of Texas. Rapid fire sketches take us through one busy day in Greater Tuna, the third smallest town in Texas. On the agenda: a meeting with The Smut Snatchers of The New Order, a funeral for a judge found dead in a most peculiar costume, and a giant chalupa (without guacamole) seen hovering suspiciously over Lake Mobete. Joe Sears and Jaston Williams wrote this perennial favorite that manages to be both scathing and affectionate, a tribute to the oddball, the ordinary, the weird and the wonderful.

Director Jean-Luc Godard's (b. 1930) debut film heralded the French New Wave movement not only with its unorthodox editing and handheld photography, but also its nonjudgmental portrayal of amoral youth. Godard paid homage to the 1940s American gangster B-movies and developed the plot from a news item supplied by François Truffaut.
